Workshop “Philosophy of Mechanics: Mathematical Foundations”
February 12-14, 2014 – University Paris Diderot
The aim of the workshop is to explore new answers to old questions concerning the foundations of both classical and quantum mechanics. To do so, we shall consider mechanics in the light of mathematical formalisms that for the moment have not yet played a major role in the debates concerning its conceptual foundations, such as for instance symplectic and Poisson geometry, noncommutative geometry, quantum groups, cohomological methods, C*-algebras, geometric quantization, and topos theory.
